Baby Girl or Boy, Here Are the Paint Colors You Can Expect to See in Joanna Gaines's Nursery

We don't know if HGTV stars Chip and Joanna Gaines's fifth child will be a boy or a girl yet, but we do know the baby will have one heck of a nursery! After all, when your dad is a top construction pro and your mom is a celebrated design guru, you're bound to have some gorgeous sleeping quarters. And while it's safe to say this little one's room will fit with the general modern-farmhouse style of the rest of the Gaineses' home, we can't help but wonder what color exactly the space will be painted.

They told us the top color contenders for the Gaines's nursery are delicate neutrals and muted pastels that create a serene space for baby. Soft White
If Chip and Joanna decide to go the gender-neutral route — imagine how much fun it would be if they waited to learn the baby's sex until birth! — then a classic beige-white like Magnolia staple Shiplap would likely be their paint choice. Kilz explains, "This creamy, weathered white provides an ideal backdrop to any space." They suggest pairing it with colorful accent furniture and textiles to brighten up the room and stimulate baby.

Neutral Green
Not only is green on trend, but in soft incarnations like Emmie's Room, it's perfect for a modern farmhouse nursery like the one we imagine Chip and Jo designing. "This green has softness, making it the perfect complement for strong, bold accents," Kilz explains.

Deep Gray
If the Gaineses decide to go for a bolder look, we're guessing they'll paint the nursery (or at least an accent wall in the nursery) Display, a deep dolphin gray. Kilz explains of the hue, "With blue undertones, it's luxurious and classic and gives off a restorative, restful vibe." As for us, we love how sophisticated and unexpected it would be in a child's space.

Sky Blue
Blue is traditionally reserved for boys' nurseries, but we think It Is Well, with its muted shades of gray, could work in a girl's room as well. And beyond just being pretty, Kilz explains that the hue is popular in nurseries because "it evokes a feeling of comfort when paired with warm neutrals and raw wood finishes."

Traditional Pink
For a baby girl, the HGTV couple can't go wrong with Ella Rose, Joanna's favorite shade of pink named after their older daughter. "It's timeless, graceful, and elegant for new parents who want a soft, feminine look," Kilz says. We have to agree that it doesn't get any more traditional little girl than this lovely hue.
