Christmas Comes Early as People Put Up String Lights During Social Distancing

As cities all over the world continue to practice social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19, some people are hanging up their Christmas lights in Spring to shine a little bit of light during these uncertain times. "My youngest son was bored today and said, 'can we put Christmas lights on our tree outside to cheer us up?'" one Twitter user wrote. "Great idea buddy. Lights are on tonight as a sign of hope and the sweet mind of my 10 year old." And the world took notice.

Individuals and even whole towns have dug up Christmas lights from their garages to add some much-needed brightness to their communities, and we're so on board with this beautiful trend.

"There are dark times ahead, but I can still put love & light out into the world," another Twitter user wrote. "Some folks have mentioned putting up Christmas lights to cheer up people in quarantine, in isolation, or just to remind the world there's still light & hope. Here's my contribution."

Take a closer look at the uplifting Christmas light displays ahead, and maybe hang up one of your own to spread some cheer to those around you.
