Lucas and Laney's previously neglected and outdated brick home was nowhere near ready to be moved into.

Chip and Joanna first redid the landscape by replacing the overgrown trees with a concrete walkway and wooden planters. They then squared off the windows and entryway, and painted the brick with a fresh coat of white paint. To establish the color contrast that Lucas and Laney envisioned for their home, Chip and Joanna offset the white brick façade with black roof shingles.

Chip and Joanna loved the window-framed door, but decided the entire entryway still needed some major updates.

Chip and Joanna turned a lackluster entry into a dramatic one filled with black panelling and fully wallpapered walls and ceilings. To accentuate the moody mid-century vibe, Chip and Joanna installed a window-framed white oak door and a brass-detailed light fixture.

With its beautiful vaulted ceiling and oversized fireplace, Chip and Joanna saw tons of potential in the living room redesign.

During the reveal, Lucas and Laney could hardly believe this was the same living room. The eyesore fireplace turned into the focal point of the whole room, as Chip and Joanna had resurfaced it in dark plaster to modernize the space and create a contrast with the white walls.

For architectural purposes, Chip and Joanna installed a white oak beam on the ceiling to match the white oak furnishings, then replaced the unnecessary ceiling fan with a geometric light fixture.

Though Lucas and Laney envisioned hosting dinner parties in their dream home, this mess of a kitchen seemed like a less than ideal setting before Chip and Joanna took over.

With its waterfall edge quartz countertops and built-in breakfast nook, Lucas and Laney's kitchen looks like it came straight out of an episode of deVOL Kitchens (another show on Chip and Joanna's new network). Chip and Joanna created a warm and inviting open concept space, removing the original wall separating the kitchen and living room and installing a tongue-and-groove ceiling. They also added dark green flat panel cabinets and installed open shelving backed with white porcelain mosaic tile.

For the primary bedroom, Chip and Joanna had a fairly clean slate.

To create warmth and dimension, Chip and Joanna covered the back wall with vertical white oak slats and mounted sconces on each side of the bed.

One look at the primary bathroom, and Chip and Joanna decided to gut everything out from floor to ceiling.

Chip and Joanna replaced the closets with two single-sink vanities, painted both the walls and ceilings with the same dark green they used in the kitchen, added a bathtub, and installed white-marbled porcelain flooring.

An important room in Lucas and Laney's dream home, this home office needed some serious renovation.

Lucas and Laney requested a home office with lots of natural light, and Chip and Joanna certainly came through. Not only did they replace the existing arched windows with rectangular windows, they opened up the wall to add French doors, and they added an additional antique warehouse window.

Chip and Joanna converted this half bathroom, half utility room into a versatile laundry room and storage space for Lucas and Laney.

Lucas and Laney's new laundry room has tons of storage space from floating shelves to pantry cabinetry. Chip and Joanna also gave the room a relaxed feel by using puppy patterned wallpaper in honor of the couple's dachshunds.
