15 Soccer Studs That'll Always Have Our Hearts

The Brazilian forward for Zenit Saint Petersburg (whose real name is Givanildo Vieira de Sousa) got his nickname because of his resemblance to Lou Ferrigno, who starred in the 1970s TV show The Incredible Hulk. He always catches our eye on the field with his movie-star hair and chiseled cheekbones.

This Argentinian footballer made our list for his classic good looks. The midfielder plays for Boca Juniors, and while he's married to fellow Argentinian tennis player Gisela Dulko (talk about a power couple), we're still fan-girling for this heartthrob.

This Ecuadorian footballer is currently a defender for Club Sport Emelec. He's wooed us over the years with that flirty smile and a variety of handsome hairstyles, from wild curls to most recently a fun fauxhawk. If you're not an Emelec fan, you might want to become one this year.

Better known as Chicharito, Hernández is a third-generation pro soccer player (his father and grandfather were both respected players in Mexico) and wears his childhood nickname on his shirt (which he earned because his dad was called Chicharo, or pea, because of his green eyes). The Mexican power forward — and devout Catholic — plays for Bayer Leverkusen, and before each game, he gets down on his knees and prays. Cute and spiritual? Sure, count us in.

Born in Mexico, Giovani started playing at a young age, and now he's a triple threat as an attacking midfielder, who can also play winger and forward. But wait, there's more: Giovani has not one, but two equally good-looking, soccer-playing brothers: Éder, who's retired, and Jonathan, who currently plays for Spanish club Villarreal CF. Talk about a family act!

OK, so we know the Uruguayan star is often portrayed as the villain (during his time playing for the Dutch team Ajax, he was nicknamed "The Cannibal of Ajax" for his penchant for, um, biting other players). À la Madonna and Beyoncé, Emboaba is simply known among football fans as Oscar. The Brazilian cutie pie is both an attacking midfielder and winger for the English team Chelsea. He had to pull out of last year's World Cup because of an injury. Hey, Oscar, the next time you get hurt, we'll gladly volunteer to take care of you! (Although sadly for us, his wife and childhood sweetheart, Ludmila, probably has it covered.)

If you haven't gathered by now, we're a sucker for a great head of hair, so obviously Uruguayan star Forlán and his dreamy gold locks had to make the cut. But the forward for Peñarol has more going for him than silky tresses and baby blue eyes. He won best player in the 2010 World Cup and is a two-time winner of both the Pichichi Trophy and the European Golden Shoe. Goaaaalll!

The American boy holds dual citizenship between the US and Mexico. He played at the University of Maryland before building an impressive professional career, now as a defender for the C.F.
