On How She Keeps Her Hair Frizz-Free at the Gym
"I definitely rock John Frieda Frizz Ease Expert Finish Polishing Serum ($9) every time I shower — I'm not going to say daily, because I definitely don't wash my hair daily; I've got those natural oils that kick in and make my hair shiny. You know how when you do your hair, day two is actually better than day one?"
"So I'll do the serum, then blow-dry it or let it air-dry. That's been saving me tons of time and a lot of stress because no one wants to worry about their hair 24/7, specially when life happens. When I'm going from the Jane the Virgin set to working out, I don't want to have to feel like I have to get all done up to go work out. I'm not that girl. I appreciate that girl; I commend that girl, but I certainly don't know how to do that. I just wash my hair, apply the serum, and put my hair in a ponytail or a braid and start boxing, girl."
On Getting Her Signature Soft Waves
"My waves are naturally wavier than what I normally wear. I've got curly hair, girl, you know I have that frizz. I normally blow it out, then do some subtle curls at the ends with a curling iron and run my fingers through them to soften them — that's how I get that look, but that has to be done. I definitely don't wake up like that!"
On Her Partnership With John Frieda
"Growing up in Chicago with three older women in my household — my mom and my two sisters — they definitely set the tone for me and the kind of products that I was going to use. Being the youngest of three, I always walked on their footprints.
