Jennifer Lopez at American Idol Finale 2016
It's Safe to Say the American Idol Finale Was the J Lo Show
Thursday night brought the series finale of Fox's long-running television show American Idol, an event that was full of emotion. The judges crowned a new winner and even brought back a previous champ, Carrie Underwood, for a moving stint on stage.
The final episode did, though, mark a beginning of one kind: it was the first time that Jennifer Lopez performed her new single "Ain't Your Momma" in public. J Lo's performance was nothing short of electrifying for the crowd. After doing a portion of the new tune, she segued into a rendition of the song "Let's Get Loud" — and fans in the audience were on their feet clapping for her.
All in all, it was a major night for Jennifer. After she walked the red carpet in a stunning and intricate Elie Madi gown — paired with Le Vian jewels and Christian Louboutin shoes — J Lo was able to take one last turn at the judges' table with Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. On Twitter, Jennifer used a hashtag that summed up her feelings: "#happyandsad."
