When it rains, it pours, and Queen Letizia braves it better than all of us. The Spanish royal, who, let's face it, always manages to look chic, impressed us with her model-esque umbrella usage while greeting excited citizens outside La Rinconada in Madrid on May 11.

Let it be known that not once did Letizia's umbrella flip inside out or threaten to blow away as has happened to us on so many ocassions. Rather, Letizia gracefully held on tight and smiled unscathed as the Spring showers continued above her.

While we're here, can we also talk about her outfit? This rainy-day ensemble — consisting of a red-hot skirt suit with a trench coat overtop, matching ruby drop earrings, a snakeskin clutch, and flesh-toned pumps for added oomph — certainly beats the ever-desirable option: sweatpants. Read on for more pictures (and a few umbrella-shopping ideas), and then discover the one fashion trend Letizia has totally mastered.
