The fans have spoken! In the wake of Mattel's major diversity announcement — in case you missed it, Barbie will now come in three body shapes (petite, curvy, and tall) and with a variation of skin colors and facial features — fans of legendary Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla are asking the toy manufacturer to create a Selena Barbie doll.
"There has yet to be any curvy Hispanic barbie dolls in any Barbie line and we think Selena is a perfect candidate for that kind of representation," the Change.org petition reads, "Selena was truly a person to be admired and I think young girls and boys would appreciate having a Selena doll in their collection."
We couldn't agree more! Mattel has yet to respond (fingers crossed they do), but it's important to note that this is one of many recent fan-backed endeavors to keep the late singer's memory alive — the MAC x Selena makeup collection is happening, after all, so there's proof Selena fans can influence serious decisions.
Selena, obviously still a star, is also nominated for two 2016 Billboard Latin Music Awards postmortem: top Latin albums female artist of the year and Latin pop albums artist of the year.
