Latina superstar Thalia is expanding her empire with the launch of the Thalia Sodi Fragrance Collection, a line of five perfumes available on Amazon. Each 3.4-oz. bottle comes in at $58, and all of the fragrances smell divine! The new venture comes months after the release of her haircare line, Adria by Thalia, conveniently available at Target and Walmart stores. So it's no surprise that the price tag of her new perfumes is on the affordable side, making it easy on our bank accounts.
Inspired by her love of precious gems, each of the bottles is dressed in a vibrant jewel tone — but the singer's mother may have actually been the main inspiration behind the new collection. "I have always been obsessed with fragrances, playing with my mom's perfumes and trying them all on," Thalia said in a press release. I, too, can definitely think of many times growing up when I would play with all of the beauty products on my mom's vanity, including her perfumes.
After smelling the five from Thalia's line, some of the fragrances evoked a special feeling or memory for me. Take for example Azure Crystal (my favorite from the collection): its rich blue reminds me of the ocean, while the coconut water and musk notes bring me back to childhood vacations in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.
Blooming Opal's white bottle may not immediately stand out from the rest, but its gardenia and tuberose notes made me think of one of my tias — you know, the one who hugs you tightly and ambushes you with kisses at the annual family barbecue. It's warm, familiar, and makes me feel like I'm home.
Rounding out the collection are Absolute Amethyst with sensual black dahlia and vanilla, making it ideal for date night, and Liquid Sun, packed with neroli and mandarin leaves that reminds me of my mom's hands after peeling an orange. Lastly, the freesia and magnolia notes in Diamond Petals make a feminine, floral statement. Fragrance is so personal, and with five different options, there's a scent for every individual and mood.
As my mom watched telenovelas in the evening, I remember seeing Thalia on the small screen. To see how much the star has accomplished is so inspiring for Latinas everywhere. Singing, acting, designing — she really does it all. Can't wait to see what this powerhouse does next.
