When I saw that Ana [Villafañe] looked like she could be my daughter, then was enthralled by her singing and blown away by her reading of one of the most difficult scenes in the play, I was sold. Emilio was sold the minute he saw Josh [Segarra] and his good looks. Just kidding, of course, but Josh was involved since the first reading and we watched him quite literally become more and more like Emilio as he observed him every moment we were in the same room. On many occasions I told Ana to put down the magnifying glass because I felt like I was under a microscope. She really knows how to do her homework and is doing a stellar job.
