Fresh from winning NBC's Songland after Luis Fonsi picked up and recorded his song "Sway," Chilean-American artist PipoBeats continues to deliver more quality music. This time around, he's staying away from the Latin beats that positioned "Sway" as the No. 1 single on the iTunes chart and taking refuge on an alternative pop track, proving he's a multifaceted artist who can navigate seamlessly through different genres and languages.
"Hate It" is a song about those breakups that are hard to let go, and the music video does a great job bringing to life a past relationship where Pipo learned about love and heartbreak the hard way. Directed by fellow Chilean-American Nico Manterola, the video "definitely allows the viewer to get into my mind and feel exactly what I was feeling throughout my past relationship," according to PipoBeats' press release.
The video begins with Pipo taking a nap between sessions in the recording studio. He wakes up too distracted to concentrate, and we're immediately taken on a flashback in time, when he was in a happy relationship. Things seem to be flowing, until something happens and everything goes south. Realizing he's not over the relationship, Pipo leaves the studio determined to find the girl of his dreams and tell her how he feels.
PipoBeats continues gaining steam as a rising artist who is finally starting to see years of hard work pay off. I'm personally excited about the things he can accomplish both as a singer and songwriter, and I can't wait to see his career blossom.
