This Couple Re-Created Scenes From La La Land For Their Adorable Engagement Photos

Fans of La La Land will love this sweet engagement shoot as much as they adored the movie. Ellen and Corey went to the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles on one of their first dates, making it the perfect location for their photo session. Photographer Marlies Hartmann had recently watched the musical featuring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling and noticed how much the couple resembled the film's Sebastian and Mia. Ellen and Corey loved the idea as they were huge fans themselves, and it didn't hurt that Ellen already owned a yellow dress and other similar pieces to Mia's wardrobe.

"We knew that our goal was to re-create and evoke the energy and feeling from the film, as well as portray the images as if the characters had indeed gotten their 'Hollywood' happily-ever-after ending we all hoped for when watching the movie," Marlies told us.

For the nighttime shots overlooking the City of Stars, they wanted to shoot at the film's exact location, Cathy's Corner. But on the day of the shoot, they realized that it was a two-mile hike and that it'd be too difficult to get all their gear and lighting equipment up to the location. Luckily, their backup plan at the Hollywood Bowl worked just as magically to re-create the iconic dance scene.

"My favorite part about the shoot was the real-life chemistry between Ellen and Corey!" Marlies said. "They are effervescent as a couple, full of the same kind of zest for life and contagious energy as Mia and Sebastian. They made the whole shoot light up just by being themselves, wildly in love and nuts about each other in that timeless, Old Hollywood sort of way."
