If you've roamed around Times Square recently, chances are you've encountered viral superstar Mike Hot-Pence among the sea of Power Rangers and Elmos. The Manhattan maven is actually 51-year-old Glen Pannell, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Vice President-elect Mike Pence. The main difference between the two? Mike Hot-Pence is here to cure your post-election blues by gathering donations for nonprofit organizations. Oh, and did we mention that he doesn't wear pants while doing so? Yep, that's a whole lot of man thigh. But hey, we never said that was a bad thing.
A graphic designer and occasional actor, Glen decided to start collecting money for nonprofits in the New York hub because he was feeling distraught after the recent presidential election. "The depression kept feeding on itself so I finally decided I had to do something, and it had to be bold and immediate, something I could point to at the end of the day and say, 'Here's what I did to make change,'" he told BuzzFeed.
The doppelgänger dons a crisp suit on top, complete with a "Mike Hot-Pence Cares" button, safety pin, and American flag pin, and short shorts on bottom, making him worthy of a double take — or two. So far, he has collected donations for organizations like Planned Parenthood, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and The Trevor Project, a suicide-prevention service for LGBTQ+ youths.
