This Couple Proves You Don't Have to Leave Home to Host a Destination Wedding

Kalvin and Patrice's wedding was a perfect reflection of their life — intimate, full of laughter, and all about the details. The couple knew they wanted a small wedding. They had always desired a destination wedding, but it would have limited the amount of guests. Their solution was incredibly creative; they decided to bring the destination to where they already were.

The wedding took place at MyMoon restaurant in Brooklyn, but everyone felt as though they were transported to an exotic location. The venue itself is very dramatic, so they didn't have to spend much on decor. "Not only was the wedding very intimate (95 people), but it was also held on a Thursday," Patrice said. "Therefore, I knew everyone that came truly loved and cared about us. It was a humbling moment and we were honored to have all of those people present just for us."

Of all the wonderful moments during the wedding, Patrice feels the most memorable times were during and after their vows. "My favorite moment was after we said our 'I dos' and we went to a small room to be alone," she said. "I just remember us staring and smiling at each other. Not much was said. It's the happiest I've ever seen Kalvin so far, and I would do anything to see him light up again like that."

Kalvin agrees with his new bride. "Honestly, I just remember thinking, 'Wow, I finally made her my wife' and began getting emotional while standing up at the altar," he said. "This was right before dropping the ring (on a wooden deck with some pretty wide spacing on it!). My hands were trembling."
