This French Garden Wedding Showcases the Beauty of the Boston Area

Matt and Ashley's romantic French garden wedding was not your typical rustic affair. The college sweethearts said their vows on a 1930s estate in north Beverly, MA, about 26 miles outside of Boston.

"This estate overlooks the water and gives you the old-world feel within seconds of walking the grounds," said a photographer of George Street Photo & Video. "Its moss stonework and green details were the perfect backdrop for this bride's vision of her wedding day."

The bridal party walked though custom antique swinging doors, which the bride and her family found at an antique store and flea market. Fittingly, Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic" played in the background. There was a designated cocktail hour, which upheld the vintage theme.

"An antique 26-pane window [was used for] the seating chart," the photographer said. "Signs and notes throughout the home shared the couple's love and old-soul personalities. [There was a] hand-rolled cigar bar, personalized cocktails, and family-made rosemary-infused olive oil gifts placed in antique wooden boxes. The guestbook was a wooden sign with the couple's last name and wedding date to be hung at their residence. The notes and best wishes would face the wall to inject the love into their home."

Herbs were highlighted throughout the estate, which gave off "an amazing scent that set the relaxed, at-home feeling," the photographer said. Even the wedding cake was accented with rosemary!

The tented reception area made use of creative centerpieces. Each table featured a picture of Matt or Ashley throughout the years. Their ages in the photos corresponded with the table numbers. Pretty creative, right?

A final sweet detail: Ashley wore a dress accented with lace from her own mother's wedding dress 30 years ago.

"Designed by the bride and mother, the specifically placed lace flowed down the open back and neckline of the gown," the photographer said. "It represented more than just style — it stood for love, eternity, and a lifetime of happiness."

And when Ashley and Matt finally saw each other? Well, the rest is history.

"It was like they were alone in their own bubble, expressing nothing but their love for each other across their faces," the photographer said. "The couple was married by a friend, who spoke about the couple's importance of friendship and family."
