This Peacock-Themed Wedding Looks Like a Rustic Fairy Tale

Kristal and Stacie truly had a wedding to remember. Green Gables in Pennsylvania set a fairy-tale-like experience, and guests were even surprised at the end of the night with fireworks. Handmade invitations and programs by Kristal gave their nuptials a personal touch, and the bold colors and metallic accents merged beautifully.

Stacie and Kristal grew up on opposite ends of West Virginia but eventually found each other. After high school, Stacie moved north to attend West Virginia University and opened up Purple Rain, her own college pub. Prince's iconic song closed the bar each night, and Kristal sometimes came by to hear her favorite musician. They both noticed each other without any introductions.

After college, the two continued to cross paths over the years, again when Kristal and her daughter moved back from Pittsburgh. They inevitably rekindled their friendship, having the same circle of friends. And after inviting Stacie to her birthday one year, it became an annual date they spent together.

Fast forward to when they ended up together at a mutual friend's birthday party, where Stacie decided to reveal her feelings for Kristal. "Of course Kristal was shocked, albeit pleasantly, surprised," said their photographer Kathryn Hyslop. "Kristal thought Stacie was kind, beautiful, smart, and charismatic, but had never entertained the idea of anything more than a friendship with her. The prospect became exciting for the both of them." Although they lived two hours from each other, they made it work and were fully in love a few months after.

Stacie planned a romantic proposal the morning of her annual Christmas party, but things didn't go quite as smoothly as she had hoped. Stacie caught the stomach flu and spent the entire morning over the toilet instead of enjoying Champagne on the lovely lake dock surrounded by snow. Kristal took care of her, only further confirming that Stacie wanted to spend the rest of her life with Kristal. She got down on one knee in her bathrobe and took out the ring from her pocket. She apologized for the unromantic circumstances but she couldn't wait any longer. "And happily ever after began," Kathryn said.
