This Couple Took Their Romantic Engagement Photos in a Purple Sea of Lavender

Paris Photographer Pierre Torset

Sherman and Chris met at a friend's party, and soon, Chris asked her out. Before they knew it, they had packed their bags and gone on a trip to Taiwan together, and during that trip they fell in love. After a few years of dating, Chris popped the question. Since Sherman believes a proposal should be private and intimate, Chris booked a hotel room, got down on one knee, and told Sherman that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her and . . . she said yes!

While their engagement was low-key, their engagement shoot was anything but! A few years ago, Sherman got the chance to spend a year in Lyon, France. During this time, she got to see the gorgeous landscape of Provence, which is well know for its lavender fields — the perfect spot for an engagement shoot.

"I wanted to be surrounded by the romantic lavender fields. It was like being surrounded by a purple ocean!" Sherman said about her engagement shoot that took place in 2018. "I wanted a romantic atmosphere in a Southern France style, so I chose a light wedding gown without a long train and casual wear with a holiday mood — and lots of whimsical details such as a bundle of lavender, sun hats, and a vintage bicycle." All these tiny details really came together — not to mention the heart-shaped trees! — and led to a stunning photo shoot with photographer Pierre Torset. Check out the dreamy photos ahead.
