Irena Ivic, a bus driver and mom from Milwaukee, WI, is being lauded as a hero after she saved a toddler who was wandering on a freeway overpass. After seeing the little boy walking down the sidewalk, Irena instantly sprung to his rescue while driving on her route on Dec. 22. The entire ordeal was caught on camera, and to say my heart is pounding in my chest is an understatement.

"Oh my God, I was so upset. I couldn't believe that somebody left the child on the street," Irena told a CBS affiliate. "The baby was so scared and crying. He didn't know what to do or [where to] go."

After Irena scooped up the barefoot toddler, she brought him on the bus where a kind passenger wrapped her jacket around the shivering boy. The child fell asleep in the stranger's arms shortly before police arrived. According to reports, the little boy was left outside by his mom, who was having a mental health crisis. He's now safely in the custody of his father.
