Aziz Ansari Manages to Instantly Restore Our Hope on SNL

Hosting the first episode of Saturday Night Live following President Donald Trump's inauguration is no easy feat, but Aziz Ansari handled it as he would any other stand-up routine: with humor and absolutely no filter. "Crazy couple of days, man," Ansari said. "Yesterday, Trump was inaugurated. Today, an entire gender protested against him. Wow."

Ansari touched on many of the political issues surrounding our country, including the new "casual white supremacy" group that's come out since the election, or what he refers to as "this lowercase KKK." This group of people no longer feel like they have to hide their racism and think that American citizens should "go back to where they came from."

His hard-hitting and absolutely hilarious monologue confronted racism and Islamophobia and said that a lot of it has to do with some of the depressing music from shows like Homeland. He asked Trump to change his typical post-SNL ways and try something new. "Don't tweet about me being lame or the show being lame, write a speech," he said, asking him to address the racist issues and talk to the people like other presidents have done.

But how Ansari closed his monologue is something that really deserves attention. He provided the viewers with a piece of reassuring advice that is so true and optimistic it'll leave you nodding your head with pride.

"I want to leave you guys with a serious thought," he said. "I know there's a lot of people that are worried right now. This is a weird time. If you're excited about Trump, great. He's president. Let's hope he does a great job. If you're scared about Trump and you're very worried, you're going to be OK, too. If you look at our country's history, change doesn't come from presidents. Change comes from large groups of angry people. And if day one is any indication, you are part of the largest group of angry people I have ever seen. Good luck to you."
