Many people were outraged over how Jimmy Fallon treated Donald Trump when he recently appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show; Fallon joked with the GOP nominee, ruffled his hair, and avoided any serious questions. "Did Fallon think being polite to a guest meant ignoring his past year of racist, sexist, Islamophobic rhetoric?" wrote Jezebel. "Did he just not care? The jokes weren't even good."

As part of the backlash against Fallon, internet users began circulating a 2012 video of the former Late Show host David Letterman calling out Trump for being a racist over his comments about President Obama.

As the Washington Post pointed out, Letterman wasn't shy about criticizing and questioning Trump, even to his face. "Letterman was never one to back down," wrote the Post. "Fallon could learn a thing or two about proper interviewing by studying the former Late Show host."
