Elizabeth Warren Attacks Donald Trump
Elizabeth Warren Holds Absolutely Nothing Back Against Donald Trump
Senator Elizabeth Warren endorsed Hillary Clinton this week, and we bet Clinton is eager to have Warren in her camp. Progressive superstar Warren previously has been hesitant to pick a side between Bernie Sanders and Clinton, but she's always been more than happy to go after presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump. In a recent speech to the American Constitution Society, Warren took Trump to task for his race-based attacks on Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who presided in the Trump University fraud case. Trump has complained that Curiel is biased against him because of his Mexican heritage. "I'm building a wall. It's an inherent conflict of interest," Trump said, ignoring the fact that the judge was born and raised in Indiana.
The comments have received backlash from Democrats and Republicans alike, with Warren adding her own takedown to the chorus of outrage. In her address, Warren described Trump's attacks as based on the "disgusting theory that Trump's own bigotry compromises the judge's neutrality." Warren pointed out that Judge Curiel cannot respond to the attacks, due to the judicial code of ethics. She described Trump as "fragile" and said he is picking on someone ethically bound not to respond. And, according to Warren, that's "exactly what you would expect from a thin-skinned racist bully." She then went on to defend Curiel, an accomplished public servant, and say Trump is attacking him simply because Trump thinks he has a "God-given right to steal people's money and get away with it." Watch above.
