J.K. Rowling Roasted the Hell Out of a Twitter Troll and Alt-Right Fanatic

J.K. Rowling is certainly not shy about voicing her opinion on social media, especially when it comes to injustice. But the author's recent Twitter takedown might just be her most savage yet.

"You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life." -- Winston Churchill

Rowling shared a quote from Winston Churchill which applauded standing up for what's right, but a troll was hot on her heels. Calling Rowling a "sh*tty writer," the user who goes by Frogulus Pepe suggested the quote was "very fitting" to Donald Trump.

Quote very fitting to @realDonaldTrump. He stands up for something very very good and you are his enemy Mrs Shitty Writer. https://t.co/WjRAsXt4tB

The troll's response to Rowling's is problematic for two reasons: she isn't sh*tty writer, and the Pepe meme is largely associated with white supremacists. (This particular troll has previously made his racist and anti-Semitic views explicitly clear by tweeting wishes for "no jews, no non-whites" to exist in Europe.) Rowling wasn't having it.

*sighs* Well, who knows? If I try harder, I might be reincarnated as a lonely virgin hiding behind a cartoon frog. pic.twitter.com/EbocdxfJ5o

Responding to the troll, Rowling said "Well, who knows? If I try harder, I might be reincarnated as a lonely virgin hiding behind a cartoon frog." Zing!

Of course, there's nothing inherently wrong with being lonely or a virgin. Rowling clarified as much after another user asked, writing, "Unless they're sublimating their frustration in alt-right politics, I wish every one of them fulfillment and happiness."

@jk_rowling What's wrong with lonely virgins? Asking for a friend.

And with that, Rowling taught us another valuable lesson in how to expertly shut down social media users who spew hate.
