Joe Biden Suggests He Will Run For President in 2020

Joe Biden Won't Rule Out Running For President and 5 Other Stories to Know on Dec. 6

  • The race is already on for 2020. Vice President Joe Biden, who decided not to run in 2016 after his son Beau passed away earlier this year, suggested he would run in 2020. While speaking to a reporter at a ceremony for a cancer research bill being named after his son who died following a fight with brain cancer, Biden said he's "not committing not to run." Biden would be 77 on Election Day in 2020.
  • It's been nearly a decade, but it's happening. Chris Rock made a huge announcement Tuesday morning: he will be going on tour for the first time in nine years. The stand-up tour, called Blackout, will commence in February 2017 and span North America.
  • It's that time of year when all the best of lists are revealed. Time magazine's annual Person of the Year is close to being released; on Tuesday morning the short list was announced on the Today show. The nominees are: gymnast Simone Biles, Hillary Clinton, CRISPR scientists (who discovered how to edit DNA), President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Nigel Farage, the Flint whistle-blowers, Beyoncé Knowles, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, and Mark Zuckerberg. The winner will be revealed on Wednesday morning.
  • A shakeup continues in Europe. France has a new prime minister after Manuel Valls resigned. Valls, who announced his intent to run for president next year, was replaced by current Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve. Since Francois Hollande decided not to run for presidency again, France will vote for a new leader beginning with a first round in April.
  • No surprises here. The Grammy nominations are in and Beyoncé is, expectedly, leading the pack. With nine nominations, Beyoncé received the most nods. Drake, Rihanna, and Kanye West all received eight nominations. One historic feat goes to Chance the Rapper, who received seven nominations for a stream-only album that was previously disqualified by the rules. The awards will air on Feb. 12, 2017.
  • More Twitter controversy for the president-elect. Trump, who has touted his venture into airlines that failed, tweeted on Tuesday morning that the government should cancel its order for a new Boeing Air Force One. Though Trump claimed that the $4 billion order was "out of control," Boeing immediately corrected him; it only has a $170 million deal with Air Force One.
