Khizr Khan Speech About Donald Trump at DNC 2016

One of the Best DNC Speeches Came From Someone You've Never Heard Of

Khizr Khan lost his son, Humayun, during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004. Humayun was killed when a car rigged with explosives approached his unit; he instructed his men to flee and he ran toward the car in an attempt to thwart the attack. Addressing the DNC this evening, Khan spoke harshly of Trump's policies — emphasizing how Hillary Clinton had called his son "the best of America." Khan, a Muslim, followed Clinton's admiration for her son with a solemn, but true, statement: "If it were up to Donald Trump, my son would never have been in America." However, that was not even the most powerful moment of his speech.

Khan questioned Trump's understanding of the Constitution, challenging, "Let me ask you — have you even read the United States Constitution? I will gladly lend you my copy," as he removed a copy from his jacket. Perhaps the most moving moment of all was when he summarized Trump's achievements, loudly proclaiming, "You have sacrificed nothing." Khan's words were precise and potent — they might even be the most apt condensation of Trump yet.

The internet predictably concurred with Khan; check out some Twitter reactions below.
