When 10-year-old Luca returned from her art day camp, she presented her mother with a drawing of a superhero she had made that day. That's when her mother — and soon after, the world — met Janet: a towering green superhero who "cuts people in half with giant scissors" and is "a hero only to herself."
Luca's mother, freelance writer Amanda Mancino-Williams, shared her daughter's imaginative creation on Twitter. Janet instantly became an internet sensation; at press time, the tweet has received over 16,000 retweets and 56,000 "likes." What's more, people started creating their own fan art inspired by the unconventional superhero. One couple even dressed their newborn up in a Janet-inspired cosplay costume.
Tell your child that they have a big fan! I made some fanart of Janet. I hope they like it! I hope they continue to create cool things <3 pic.twitter.com/h8y0N6V422

In an attempt to better understand Janet and her superpowers, Cosmopolitan interviewed Luca. The 10-year-old explained that Janet's stick glows when she's near bad guys, and she likes being by herself, adding, "She's really strong, in her mind and her body, and she does her own thing. She doesn't have time for jerks. And she doesn't give warnings. Janet is my perfect hero."
