President Obama Asks Republicans Not to Support Trump

In 1 Sentence, Obama Sums Up What Republicans Need to Hear About Donald Trump

One of President Obama's main jobs while he's still in office? Undermine Donald Trump's campaign to the best of his ability. The president gave his latest and harshest condemnation at a White House news conference this morning, according to the New York Times, calling on Republican leaders to withdraw their endorsements from Trump because he's unfit to be a leader.

"If you are repeatedly having to say in very strong terms that what he has said is unacceptable, why are you still endorsing him?"

The statement comes after GOP leaders like Paul Ryan and John McCain denounced Trump's statements about the Khan family but didn't reject support of the GOP nominee. Obama also said Trump was "woefully unprepared to do this job," citing his repeated misinformed comments about Europe and the Middle East. On Sunday, for example, Trump said that Russian President Vladimir Putin wouldn't invade Ukraine, even though he already has.

"This isn't a situation where you have an episodic gaffe," said Obama. "This is daily."
