17 Things That Are Way Too Real For Anyone Raised by Liberal Parents

While your political preferences shouldn't necessarily determine your parenting style, they undoubtedly end up having an effect. Personally, I'm pretty accustomed to my parents' staunchly liberal affiliations that often resulted in watching The Daily Show, volunteering for Barack Obama's campaign both in 2008 and 2012, and them spontaneously taking off to Washington DC one weekend to protest George W. Bush's second inauguration. Ahead, check out some quirks that will feel way too real for anyone else who was raised by badass, outspoken, protesting liberal folks.

1. Registering to vote as soon as you turned 18 was non-negotiable.
2. You were probably that person to get into heated political arguments with your fellow classmates at school . . . elementary school.
3. Your cars were plastered with bumper stickers promoting everyone from Gore to Kerry to Obama.
4. Your nightly TV lineup typically consisted of The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and Real Time with Bill Maher.

5. You went to see every Michael Moore documentary in theaters the night it premiered.
6. Your weekend plans typically involved a protest or rally of some sort.
7. You didn't get grounded as much as your other friends for underage drinking and the like — as long as you were always 100 percent honest.
8. Fox News was considered a bad word.
9. Your parents still have coverage from the night President Obama was elected saved on their DVR.
