The pair, along with their spouses, Laura Bush and Barack Obama, attended John McCain's funeral on Sept. 1, and viewers of the live broadcast were quick to spot a tender moment shared between them.

During former Sen. Joe Lieberman's eulogy for McCain, it appears the former president reached for a candy or mint from Laura to pass to Michelle. She appeared grateful and mouthed "Thank you" as Barack knowingly smiled next to her. The former presidents both attended and spoke at the funeral at the request of the late Arizona senator.
