Watch the Powerful New Trailer For Netflix's Roe v. Wade Documentary, Reversing Roe

It's been 45 years since the 1973 US Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade, and Netflix has a new documentary that takes a look at what has — and hasn't — happened since. Reversing Roe, available to stream beginning on Sept. 13, presents a timely look into the state of abortion legislation and women's rights in America. Drawing on historical footage and present-day interviews, the documentary looks back at the period of time leading up to the landmark decision and how exactly so much opposition skyrocketed afterward.

The filmmakers, Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg (The Devil Came on Horseback), showcase interviews from both sides of the intense divide, including doctors Colleen McNicholas and Curtis Boyd; feminist Gloria Steinem; Operation Rescue president Troy Newman; and National Right to Life president Carol Tobias.

Netflix's decision to release the trailer on Sept. 4 was a timely one: it was also the first day of confirmation hearings for noted antiabortion SCOTUS candidate Brett Kavanaugh, Donald Trump's pick after longtime Justice Anthony Kennedy retired. Netflix describes Reserving Roe as "intense and unflinching in its commitment to telling the whole story." Take one look at the trailer, and you'll be compelled to watch it as soon as it's out.
