Pool in Canada Lets Dogs Swim
This Canadian Pool Is Redefining the Doggy Paddle
At the end of Summer, many municipal pools drain the water and close up shop. But three years ago, one pool employee in Canada decided there was a better way to end the season: bring in the dogs! After the pool is closed for the Summer, local dog owners are invited to bring their dogs to swim for what the community has dubbed the Doggy Paddle. And not only is it fun for dogs and their owners, but the event also raises money for the local humane society.
"Last year we ended up raising about $800, and we give that right to the Calgary Humane Society, so it goes to a great cause," said Jennifer Zacharias, of the Calgary Outdoor Swimming Pool Association.
If you aren't lucky enough to live in a community that does this, we have some of our own tips for hosting a dog pool party.
