After People Complained About a Stray Cat at a Law Firm, He Got "Hired" as a Full-Fledged Attorney

A stray cat named Leon from Brasília, Brazil, finally has a new home — and a job! After employees at the Order of Attorneys of Brazil building began getting complaints that the adorable kitty was hanging around too much, they decided to do something about it by hiring him as a lawyer. Dr. Jeanette Laredo, an attorney who had the pleasure of meeting Leon, shared the good news in a private Facebook group, and her post quickly went viral.

"After a heavy rain, this little guy here seeking shelter from the storm went inside the OAB building (the Brazilian equivalent of American Bar Association) and decided to stay," she wrote. "Unfortunately some people started to file some complaints about the fact that at the reception desk there was a stray cat hanging around and trying to make friends with the newcomers. In order to avoid some new complaints, the board gave the solution: Hire the cat as an employee."

Um, yes, what a brilliant idea! Now, Leon spends his days welcoming guests "whether they like it or not," and even got a company badge. And to be clear, the majority of the complaints stemmed from the fact that Leon was just a baby when he first started hanging around. Most people were simply nervous they were going to step on him, according to a spokesperson.

"In February it rains a lot in the state of Amapá, so he arrived at OAB fleeing from the rain and thunder. For a week, he was fed and protected in a box. Until he got hired," a spokesperson told Bored Panda. "They said that there was no space for him because it is a serious institution. So the President of the OAB determined the hiring and gave him an employee badge."
