The New Black Vanguard: Photography Between Art and Fashion Book ($35, originally $50)

If there's one thing to know about me, it's that I'm going to push the culture forward. Whether it's through my work as a journalist or anything else I'm creating, it's my number one priority. At the same time, I realize it's important to remain a student, and I love that books like Antwaun Sargent's "The New Black Vanguard" will educate me on my history. This is the perfect hosting gift for myself, as I display it on my coffee table and it always starts conversation among guests.

I went to college for photography, and have a deep appreciation for fashion photography (I used to go to SoHo in high school and take photos of my friends and other people in their outfits), so this book is perfect for when I need a creative boost or just want to appreciate my culture. It even features work from some of my favorite contemporary fashion photographers, including Renell Medrano, who's worked with the likes of Solange and Kendrick Lamar, to Tyler Mitchell, the first Black photographer hired to shoot a cover story for American Vogue.

I love discovering independent brands, especially since I prefer pieces no one else is wearing. Arkyve's crochet hat stands out with its red, black, and white color play, and its 100 percent acrylic yarn ensures durability. The cat-ear-inspired shape also adds a playful element I'm obsessed with, making this a versatile statement piece I'll reach for all season. It's equal parts edgy and sustainable.

JW Pei Medium Hana Croc Embossed Faux Leather Tote ($149)

I like to have all my essentials nearby and easy to grab when I'm hosting, in case I need to make a quick run to the grocery store before the festivities begin. JW Pei's latest Hana tote is heavy on my radar. It's made from water-repellent, croc faux leather, which will make it ideal for various weather conditions. I also love its trapezoid-like shape, making it versatile to team with any outfit on the go.

Tyler Lambert Pink Furry Bucket Hat ($160)

I'm not a super impulsive shopper, but when I saw Lori Harvey wear the blue version of this hat, I knew I had to get it. It's so comfortable, and stretchy enough to fit over my thick hair, and it kept me extremely warm on a recent trip to Iceland. I can't wait to pull it out again this winter, and it's perfect for any holiday party with a winter wonderland theme.

Kizik Juno 2 High Boot ($175)

Remember that Iceland trip I mentioned? These boots were the reason. I had the immense privilege of exploring the country with Kizik to celebrate the Juno 2's launch, and I've never been more excited about a new release. Not only are these boots super chic, but they're crafted with the brand's signature hands-free technology, and let's just say putting on snow boots has never been easier. I also love how warm they kept my feet against brisk temps, thanks to the EVA foam midsole. I can't wait to add the white ones to my winter shoe line-up.

Higherdose Red Light Face Mask ($349)

I've been using this mask for months now and I love everything about it. I like to use this mask before hosting events to make me as zen as possible and, of course, to achieve glowing skin.

Admittedly, the red light is something to get used to (I definitely saw stars after closing my eyes first use), but its benefits surely make up for the temporary photopsia. With such a busy schedule, it's very rare that I do more than my usual 10 to 15 minute skin-care routine, so I love that using this mask forces me to pause and relax completely. After my first use, I noticed a significant difference in my complexion and texture, and my skin even felt more refreshed — as if I had just gotten a luxurious facial, which you can read more about in my Higherdose Red Light Face Mask review.

Naked Wardrobe Vegan Leather Trench Coat ($298)

While burgundy may have been the "it-color" of last season, the rich hue is back for another season (at least in my opinion). I've been wanting to elevate my outerwear game this year, and this leather trench from Naked Wardrobe is a perfect start. From its sleek shoulder pads to its raw edge trim, it just screams luxe.

Le Creuset Holly Collection Enameled Cast Iron 4.5-Quart Traditional Chef's Oven with Lid ($350)

Growing up Jamaican, cooking has always been a big thing in my house, especially for Sunday dinners. While heirlooms like my grandmother's Dutch pot always gets our favorite dishes like curry goat right, there's nothing wrong with adding a new one to the mix. I can predict that this chef's oven from Le Creuset will fit the bill equally (or more), because of its enameled cast iron quality that allows for sufficient heat distribution and retention.

Ducie Emilia Fur Jacket ($544)

Remember when I said I'm rebranding my outerwear pieces? Yeah, I meant it. Ducie recently dropped their new faux fur styles, and the Emilia immediately caught my eye. It features a sophisticated shawl, creating that vintage look, and is made with faux fur, so it's more sustainable. The coat really just speaks for itself — that is, if you're a fashion girl who loves a statement piece like me. I always pull this out after hosting holiday dinner at my house, and then I'm ready to head to the after party.

Pelle Pelle American Bruiser Plush Crop Jacket ($1,400)

I've been obsessed with the '90s for as long as I can remember, and the fashion is an aspect that's always been inspiring to me. From seeing some of my favorite OG artists like Tupac Shakur and Alicia Keys sport this brand to current stars like Kali Uchis, the Pelle Pelle leather jacket is truly part of Black fashion history. I love a high-quality leather piece, and as a native New Yorker, it's only right that I have it. I actually display this in my home and get tons of compliments. As a throwback brand people still love, they treat it like the ultimate conversation piece.
