The 5 Products You Need to Start Your Morning

The 5 Products You Need in Your Morning Routine, According to a Wellness Blogger

Sleeping in is nice, but starting the day off right is better. We've partnered with Walgreens to help you rise and shine.

In the pursuit of wellness, and just about everything else in life, it's essential to begin as you mean to go on. Whether you naturally leap out of bed with a smile or can't deal till at least 11 a.m., the mornings are your daily opportunity to set an intention — mentally and physically — for what lies ahead. To help you seize each day, we asked Geri Hirsch, creator of the wellness, fashion, beauty, and lifestyle blog because i'm addicted, for the products she can't live without in the a.m. Oh, and did we mention that Geri is currently 33 weeks pregnant and still a committed morning person? If she can do it, so can you. Here are five things that will help immensely.

Even if the thought of exercise first thing fills you with dread, there's still a very good reason to roll out the Pure Fitness Yoga Matevery single morning — and it involves sitting still. Geri begins each day with 20 minutes of Transcendental Meditation (TCM), which calls for a comfortable mat that sticks to the ground without puckering and is easy to put away and transport in a tote bag. "You can meditate in bed or you can create a little meditation corner, which is a special quiet place to go to," she says. "You can lie down on a mat like this one, set up some pillows and some crystals — whatever you need to give it some ambience and have it be your centering base."

Alongside getting enough sleep and exercise and eating well, drinking enough water is a major tenet of wellness. Geri carries a water bottle with her all day, so she appreciates the BPA-free stainless-steel Contigo Auto Seal 24-ounce bottle's patented thermolock vacuum insulation. It locks in cold for hours, which is perfect for hot Los Angeles days. "Also, I would never drink out of plastic," says Geri. "I think that stainless is a much safer alternative."

One of the major drivers of daily bad decisions is fluctuating blood-sugar levels, so Geri stays balanced with Nice! Trail Mix Hiker's Mix. This blend of raisins, sunflower kernels, peanuts, cashews, and almonds has everything but the bad stuff, like preservatives and artificial colors and flavors, which is an essential baseline for Geri. "I always make sure to grab a snack to take with me so I never let my blood sugar get so low," she says. "I love to take this trail mix with me just to have nuts and dried fruit. It fits perfectly in any sized bag."

While being pregnant hasn't stopped Geri from being active most days, she has adjusted the pace and intensity and set new goals with the help of the Striiv Activity Tracker. It tracks steps (walked or run), calories burned, and active time, and it's Bluetooth-enabled for use with a downloadable app. "Because I'm not doing a ton of intense workouts right now, I'm really focused on keeping up with my steps. I try to get in 10,000 every day, and I use this to check in on how I'm doing."

Adequate intakes of omega 3 fatty acids, found in fish oil, are essential for good health. While it’s best to get omega-3 from foods such as fatty fish, you can incorporate it into your diet with a fish oil supplement such as Finest Nutrition Fish Oil 1400mg Softgels. For Geri, it has never been more important. "During pregnancy, one of the most important things to do is add to my diet to make sure I'm getting enough omega-3s, so I take this fish oil every day. But a good dose of omega-3 is important at any time in your life," she says.
