5 Essential Travel Tips From a Jet-Setting Teenage Superstar

Teenage actress Bella Thorne is up in the air — frequently. The past week alone has seen Bella jetting between Los Angeles, London, and New York to promote her movie The Duff and to make appearances as a spokesperson for the National Park Foundation's Find Your Park program. So how does the 17-year-old Florida native handle all of the jet-setting? She filled us in on her five tips for making travel a total breeze.

1 Put Valuables in Your Carry-On
After one bad experience, Bella knows to keep important things close. "I just lost my luggage," she said. "Actually, [the airline] did. All the stuff that you buy when you travel, you should put that in your carry-on." Bella has picked Tumi luggage ($645) for trips in the past.
2 Remember That Hydration Is Key
Water is good as a drink — and for beauty. "Bring a little spray can of Evian," Bella explained. "Because you need to stay hydrated. That's really good." Evian's facial spray ($7) is small enough to tuck into a purse.
3 Plan Ahead to Feel Fresh
Because Bella travels so much for work, she knows the importance of feeling your best. "Bring a small face wash, like a bar of soap or something, so you can clean up while you're on the plane," she suggests. "You don't want to be landing and be dirty and smelly." At two ounces, Mario Badescu's enzyme cleansing gel ($7) will make it through airport security.
4 Forgo Your Heels
Even though she's often photographed at the airport, Bella won't deal with heels — but she will dress up, a little. "I would rather travel in complete sweats," she confessed. But when comfort is involved, she makes one concession. "I never wear heels. I'm really not a heels person. I usually wear flats or boots." Bella has been spotted in Charlotte Olympia's cat flats ($495).
5 Pack Lavender
Whether you want to sleep due to anxiety or fatigue, Bella has a tip. "Bring something that will help you go to sleep faster. Sometimes people bring little bags of lavender smellers. That helps you relax while you're on a plane, especially if you have anxiety," she said. Oil is also an option, and Cococare's lavender oil ($8) will fit right in your carry-on.
