The Most Instagrammable Tourist Attractions Are Definitely Not What You'd Expect

You can't move because of people taking selfies near the Eiffel tower, and tourists visiting Buckingham Palace can't resist posing in their Meghan Markle-inspired outfits, but are these really the most impressive tourist attractions on Instagram? They might be popular, but when it comes to engagement and that all important double tap, they're not even in the top 10.

After studying 99 attractions across the globe, a report by Stasher revealed that it's actually the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam that takes the top spot when it comes to Instagram engagement. If you're looking for likes and comments, more than half of the attractions with the highest Instagram engagement rates are in Europe, and the Van Gogh Museum sits right at the top with an average of 340 likes per post. New York City also made the list twice, and the popularity of the Met Ball on social media put the Metropolitan Museum of Art high up on the list (we suspect Blake Lively gave them a helping hand).

Want to see what else made the list and plan your next big trip (#forthegram)? Read through our gallery of the most instagrammable tourist spots, and prepare to master that selfie pose.
