Oui! 25 Picturesque Paris Spots You Absolutely Need to Visit

We don't think anyone would be surprised to hear that the City of Light is rife with photo ops. As the capital of France, Paris is known as a global center for art, fashion, food, and culture, but with so much to see and do, it's hard to know where exactly to focus your attention. Lucky for you, Instagram experts have searched the entire 19th-century cityscape on both sides of the Seine to determine the best locales to snap the most enviable shots, and we have them all. If you're planning a visit to Gay Paree, make sure you grab a photo in one (or all!) of Paris's most Instagrammable spots.

01

Palais-Royal

Located just across from the Louvre, the 17th-century arcades and iconic striped columns of this former palace courtyard make the perfect backdrop for photos.

02

Au Vieux Paris d'Arcole

Tucked away on Rue Chanoinesse just steps from Notre Dame, this adorable cafe has become as well-known for its cafe au lait as its Instagram potential.

03

Moulin Rouge

Full disclosure: the Moulin Rouge isn't nearly as glamorous as it looks in the movie, but its big red windmill is definitely something to look out for in the Pigalle district.

04

Arc de Triomphe

Easy to spot anywhere from the busy Champs-Élysées, this enormous triumphal arch is one of the most famous monuments in Paris.

05

Avenue de Camoëns

Located in the 16th arrondissement just a few minutes from the Trocadéro, this cul-de-sac is a hidden gem, as it has one of the best sneaky views of the Eiffel Tower.

06

Places des Vosges

The oldest (and arguably the prettiest) public square in all of Paris, this spot straddles the dividing line between the 3rd and 4th arrondissements in the historic Marais district.

07

Louvre Museum

We're sure you're already familiar with this one, but a trip to Paris isn't complete without snapping a shot in front of the world's largest art museum and its iconic glass pyramid.

08

Trocadéro

Though definitely not as well-kept a secret as Avenue de Camoëns, the Trocadéro (site of the Palais de Chaillot and located across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower) offers the best views of the tower in the city, so the earlier in the day you can get there, the better.

09

Wall of Love

Known as the Wall of Love, the Love Wall of Paris, or simply the "I Love You" Wall, you can find this picture spot in the Jehan Rictus garden square in Montmartre, where "I Love You" is written in 250 different languages on pretty tiles of enameled lava.

10

Sinking House of Montmartre

Located to the right of the Sacré-Coeur in Montmartre, the "sinking" house is found behind a grassy bank, and — if you turn your camera about 45 degrees — you can capture a pic with the illusion that the house is sinking into the ground behind you.

11

Rue de l'Université

Another great photo spot for catching the Eiffel Tower is on Rue de l'Université — a long, narrow street spanning the 6th and 7th arrondissements — at the corner where it meets the Avenue de la Bourdonnais.

12

Musée d'Orsay Clock

Sure, there's plenty of art to check out in the Musée d'Orsay, but one of the coolest pieces is the giant, Instagram-famous clock window facing the Seine.

13

Rue Crémieux

This precious cobblestone and pastel-colored backstreet (found between Rue de Lyon and Rue de Bercymay) may be the most Instagram-perfect block in Paris.

14

La Maison Rose

As well as delicious traditional French cuisine, this pretty pink maisonette (located on the corner of Rue des Saules and Abreuvoir in Montmartre) is practically begging to be photographed.

15

Luxembourg Gardens

Located in the 6th arrondissement, this garden offers plenty of greenery and an incredible photo op of the picturesque Luxembourg Palace (especially if taken from across the Medici Fountain).

16

Le Refuge des Fondus

If you've ever dreamed of drinking wine from a baby bottle, then this fun and rowdy fondue joint in Montmartre is the place for you (and the graffitied walls definitely make for the perfect background to snap a photo while you do it).

17

Boot Café

This shoebox-size six-seater cafe — located inside of a former cobbler in the Marais — is cute as can be (not to mention a great place to grab a coffee).

18

Galerie Vivienne

Located in the 2nd arrondissement, the Galerie Vivienne is one of the many covered passages of Paris, and with its elegant canopy and Pompeian style, it makes for some impressive Instagram shots.

19

Palais Garnier

The inside of this giant opera house is full of gems, but the grand foyer (designed to act as a drawing room for Paris society) is definitely something to behold.

20

Sacré-Coeur

The second most visited monument in Paris (after the Eiffel Tower, of course) is Sacré-Coeur, and though it will take some work to ascend to the summit of Montmartre, the view from the basilica is more than worth it.

21

Sainte-Chapelle

Situated on the Ile de la Cité (and just a short walk from Notre Dame), this intimate, Gothic-style church is full of stained glass, gorgeous tile, and a million photo ops.

22

Ladurée

Macarons in Paris are a must, and there's no better place to go than one of these mint-colored luxury bakery and tea rooms, the best of which is located on Champs-Élysées.

23

Panthéon

One of the most underrated panoramic views of the city is from the Panthéon, which is located in the 5th arrondissement on the Montagne Sainte-Geneviève in the city's Latin Quarter.

24

Carousel of the Eiffel Tower

There are plenty of carousels to be photographed in Paris, but one of the best is on the bank of the Seine right at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, which offers the perfect shot if you position yourself just right.

25

Orangerie Museum

Though not as popular as the Louvre or the Musée d'Orsay, the Musée de l'Orangerie (located in the west corner of the Tuileries Gardens next to the Place de la Concorde) is rarely crowded and absolutely worth a visit for a shot with one of Claude Monet's masterworks.
