Apple Patent For Waterproof iPhone

Apple's Genius Solution For Dropping Your iPhone in Water

Apple's rolling out one new idea after another. Not only is the company striving to bring a selfie-unlock feature to iPhone users everywhere, but now it's also working on waterproofing smartphones. After years of storing phones in bowls of rice as a desperate last resort after dropping them in the toilet, we're pretty excited for this potential new feature.

According to Patently Apple, the company's recent iPhone patent shows a design for liquid-impermeable buttons — something that implies a waterproof device in the near future. While a patent isn't a guarantee that Apple will utilize this feature in its next generation of iPhones, we certainly hope it will. The new button technology would include a sealed, waterproof layer that prevents water and unwanted material (like dirt or sand) from getting inside the phone, much like other water-resistant phone models such as the Galaxy S5.

No pressure, Apple, but we'd love if you could hurry up on this . . . Summer is coming, and bringing our phones into the pool sounds divine!
