This Google Fortunetelling Website Isn't What You Think It Is

It definitely feels like Google holds most of the answers to our modern-day problems, which is why most people didn't question that it came up with a new fortune-telling website. However, the website, called Google Fortunetelling, is neither part of Google nor can it tell you anything about your future.

First you begin typing a question, but the site then autocompletes it to "Where can I find a safe place?" along with several other questions like, "Will I be reunited with my family?" and "Is there a place where I can give my children a safe future?" After a few seconds, you're redirected to another page that reminds you to think of how you can help the current migrant crisis in Europe, which includes an estimated 19 million people who are refugees coming from countries like Syria, Somalia, and Afghanistan. If you choose to share the site, it'll appear on Facebook and Twitter as if you found an incredible fortune-telling website, but it will lead people to this same page in the end.

The website is a creative way to highlight an issue that can so easily be forgotten and is a great reminder that we can all do something to help the situation.
