You Just Got a Personal Assistant Thanks to Google

If you're someone who hates constantly switching between apps, Google Now is going to become your new best friend. At Google I/O, the company's annual developer conference, we got a peek at "Now on Tap," a feature within the Google Now app that brings you any information you need — all within whichever current app you're using. It's like having your own virtual personal assistant.

Focusing on helping users in the moment, "Now on Tap," which will roll out with the new Android M software, is built to work within any other app. Simply by tapping and holding the home button on an Android device, Google Now will pull up any information you might need. So if you get a text asking to eat out a particular restaurant and to pick up the dry cleaning, you can just tap the home button and a little card will pop up asking if you want to set a reminder for the dry cleaning and if you'd like to make reservations, all without leaving the texting app.

In another demo at Google I/O, Aparna Chennapragada, director of product management, demonstrated how it works across all apps, including Chrome. Reading an article about Hugh Laurie? Just select Hugh's name, tap on it, and information will be pulled up about the actor, from links to IMDB to any new movies he might be appearing in.

The feature is pretty incredible, considering how how it works to make the user experience even easier. If you own an Android, get excited about receiving more information when you want it even faster.
