Harry Potter Wizards Unite Video Game Details

Wizards, Unite! Harry Potter's Pokémon-Go-Inspired Mobile Game Has Finally Arrived

Wizards and witches, hold onto your wands, because Niantic's Harry Potter: Wizards Unite game launches on iOS and Android devices on June 21, and complete chaos is about to ensue in the Muggle world. Brought to life by Niantic Labs, the creators of Pokémon Go, the AR game gives Harry Potter fans the opportunity to step up as the Chosen One and keep the secrets of the wizarding world away from Muggle eyes — just watch out for the Dementors!

Wizards Unite allows you to build up your Spell Energy, unlock Portkeys hiding in plain sight, and uncover magical Foundables. You can even choose your own magical profession (Magizoologist, please!) and battle other players and creatures in Wizarding Challenges, including werewolves and Death Eaters.

According to the official website, the game is a new opportunity to get up and move while interacting with the wizarding world via spell casting, artifact hunting, and wrangling up all the fantastic beasts you can find. As far as the storyline? The game site reads:

"For the first time, you'll soon embark on your own Wizarding World adventure together with friends in the real world. Your journey begins as a new recruit of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, established by the Ministry of Magic and the International Confederation of Wizards for the purpose of investigating and containing The Calamity.

"A calamity has befallen the wizarding world, causing artifacts, creatures, people, and even memories to mysteriously appear in the Muggle world. Witches and wizards from across the globe must come together to solve the mystery of The Calamity, overcome the confounding chaotic magic that surrounds these 'Foundables', and return them to their rightful place, keeping them safe from Muggle eyes."

If the synopsis and the latest trailer are anything to go by, this Harry Potter game is about to confringo our socks right off. So hold onto your happiest memory, because you never know when you might need to cast your next Patronus.
