J.K. Rowling Visits Local Library Book Club

If You Tweet at J.K. Rowling, She Might Actually Come to Your Party

Most of us blindly tweet at celebrities without any expectation that they will respond or follow through on a peculiar request we may have. Thankfully, the Orkney Library in Scotland is not all of us. Last week, the library hosted a discussion of The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith — otherwise known as J.K. Rowling's pen name. They tweeted to the author about joining them for a slice of cake, and J.K. Rowling responded . . . then actually came to the gathering! We're not really surprised she replied, considering she has a history of being pretty active on Twitter.

The ensuing exchange between Rowling and the library is just as amusing as her actually showing up to the book club meeting. Rowling lamented that the weather was poor so she might have to use magic to get there. See the entire conversation below.

Robert didn't show up, but Rowling did.

After the discussion, Rowling shared her thanks with the library.

We're not losing hope that she will respond to our tea party invitation. A Potterhead can dream, right?
