Moms — they love us and try to teach us important lessons as we grow up, especially tough ones. But one Denver mom took traditional disciplinary methods a step further by publicly posting a video where she reprimands her 13-year-old daughter for posing as a 19-year-old on Facebook and sharing racy pictures.

In the video, the mother, Valerie Starks, asks her daughter to look at the camera and admit she's not 19 years old, still watches Disney channel, and adheres to a bedtime.

While many commenters are applauding her for this parenting tactic, others are concerned that it takes public shaming too far. In an interview with ABC 7News in Denver, Starks defends her choice, especially since her daughter's had similar issues with Facebook before.

"She's not mad at me, her friends are not bullying her at school," she said. "I wanted to make a statement and a stand for all parents that this is not going to be tolerated." Starks posted a follow-up Facebook video on May 18 where she also addresses these concerns and admits she's a flawed mother, but that these are her choices. "I'm not her friend. I am my own village and trying my best with this little girl," she said.

The original video, posted on May 17, has gained huge popularity with over 10 million views and 300,000 shares. It's definitely sparked a conversation about parenting in the modern age. Let us know what you think about the situation by voting in our poll below.
