7 Musicians Who've Pulled Their Music From Spotify

The pop star's latest album, 1989, never made it to Spotify, but she pulled all of the songs that were already available. There is one song that remains: Swift's track from the Hunger Games soundtrack, "Safe & Sound." In response to the drama, Spotify had its own comeback, creating a "What to Play While Taylor's Away" playlist.

Thousands of fans have mourned the fact that no Beatles album is on Spotify; no surviving member has allowed it. Other legendary albums are also missing.

Smart move? The British band has withheld its last two albums from Spotify for months, forcing fans to pay for downloads or physical copies.

The Black Keys were one of the first to speak out against Spotify, and neither of their last two albums are on the streaming service. In 2012, drummer Patrick Carney said, "If it was fair to the artist, we would be involved in it."

You'll only find five Grizzly Bear songs on Spotify, and that might have to do with the band's Twitter rant against the service back in 2012. "Spotify might be good for exposure but after about 10k plays we get approx 10 dollars," said one of the tweets.

Thom Yorke has been incredibly vocal about his issues with Spotify, and he pulled his solo work from the service to protest how little it pays artists. He also tweeted about it, saying he was standing up for fellow musicians.

For more than a year after it came out, Adele's hit album 21 was nowhere to be found on Spotify. Apparently she wanted Spotify to only stream the album to members who paid for premium service, but Spotify refused to make the deal.
