A Glorious Photo of the Milky Way From Earth
A photo captioned "My first (somewhat successful) attempt at of the photographing the Milky Way" blew up on Reddit today, and it's obvious why. Commenters called it "amazing" and "awesome" and "beautiful," not only because of the color and clarity but because of the human silhouette.
Reddit user triplewafer described in technical detail how he got the shot, writing "Sony NEX-7, Sony E 18-55mm (SEL1855) at 18mm, F3.5, ISO16000, Single 30 second exposure, Post processed using Lightroom, 17/2/2015 2:53am Rural Victoria, Australia." Experienced photographers will recognize the settings, and we have a feeling there will be a lot of copycats out there. It's certainly not the first time a photo of space taken by someone on Earth has impressed us.
