The Stunning Pictures of This Rare Fire Rainbow Will Make You Believe in Magic

In what can be interpreted as a much-needed reminder to look up at the sky every now and then, residents of Singapore were recently treated with an extremely rare fire rainbow. According to The Straits Times, a local newspaper, the vibrant rainbow was only visible for 15 minutes on Feb. 20.

What is a fire rainbow exactly? Well — contrary to popular belief — fire rainbows are not created by Lisa Frank herself. Also referred to as a circumhorizontal arc, fire rainbows are optical phenomena that are caused when sunlight passes through ice crystals at a high altitude. Despite the misleading name, they aren't actually rainbows, more so just bursts of light.

Those who were lucky enough to catch sight of the fire rainbow promptly took to Instagram to share glorious pictures of it. Check some of them out ahead.
