The Photographer Behind These Baby Superheroes Has Passed Away
Update:
We're sad to report that the photographer behind these amazing photographs, Jamie Anderson, passed away in early June. If you'd like to support the family in any way, they have set up a GoFundMe campaign to cover the funeral and other costs.
Original story:
Think your love of Star Wars and other geekdoms can't be combined with your new life as a parent? Think again. You can begin with a geeky pregnancy announcement and then start your kids' own obsessions at an early age, as JME Portraits has done with these adorable photo shoots.
Photographer Jamie Anderson, who's the creator behind JME Portraits, has photographed babies in a variety of Jedi and superhero costumes. From Yoda to Superman, there's no galaxy far enough that your baby can't be a part of. The portraits are shot on a variety of backgrounds, some reflecting the costume of the baby, like baby Spider-Man "flying" through buildings via his web.
As a self-proclaimed "geek at heart," Anderson sees no end to these types of photo shoots. "Some people believe that geeky/action-hero-themed newborn photo shoots will be considered dated 20 years from now," she said. "I say, 'Tell that to Disney as they spend millions bringing this stuff to life!'" While she does offer both natural and themed portraits, she sees no harm in having fun with dressing up your baby. "Wouldn't it be fun to watch your baby's photo go viral because you dressed up your baby as one of your lifelong heroes?" she said.
