Disney World Skyliner System Facts

Here's Everything You Need to Know About Disney World's New Skyliner System

Minnie Mouse-themed vans won't be the only new way to get around at Walt Disney World Park and Resorts. A few months back, we shared the news that a new Disney World gondola system was in the works, and even more details about the project were released at this year's D23 Expo.

Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said the system would be called Disney Skyliner. It will aim to "give guests a never-before-seen bird's-eye view of Walt Disney World and connect the new Disney Vacation Club property, Disney's Art of Animation, Pop Century and Caribbean Beach Resorts with Disney's Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot."

Documents from The Reedy Creek Improvement District also indicate the new gondola lifts will include six stations with three different lines linking the locations. The gondolas will also feature popular characters. We're not sure of the estimated date of completion, but since one of the lines will serve the all-new Disney Riviera Resort (opening in 2019), we have our fingers crossed that we don't have too long to wait until guests can travel sky-high to and from resorts and the parks.

Stay tuned for more details!
