Windowless Airplanes Might Be Here in 10 Years

Windowless Plane Pictures

Sure, the Hello Kitty plane is great, but this one is downright impressive. The UK's Centre For Process Innovation (CPI) is imagining an aircraft that would get rid of windows and instead replace them with large, thin OLED display panels — kind of like a digital wallpaper.

What's the reason? To lighten up the plane's weight, which would save fuel and reduce carbon emissions, according to the CPI. It also claims this would reduce overall costs for airlines and passengers.

Once on board, each passenger seated in the "window" seat could choose what they want to see on the panel — be it a view of the outside, a movie, a directory to in-flight services, or another image. If all goes according to plan, these planes could be up and running in the next 10 years. Dying to know more? The CPI has all the details, and you can check out photos plus a short video ahead.

While this sounds great and all, what will we do without those profound #windowseat photos?
