Can You REALLY Travel Across the Country on Amtrak For $213?

We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the dining car while traveling. Low praised his rack of ribs and bacon cheeseburger — I have to agree that the food was really good, especially for being cooked on a moving train!

I also agree that the Amtrak seating arrangements in the dining car are quite an adventure. There is community seating so that the train can accommodate every passenger. That means you often sit across the table from strangers. It's awesome to hear the stories behind why people are traveling and where they are coming from. Sometimes you sit next to very talkative people, and other times you are with silent booth buddies.
