Women helping women: it's got a lovely ring to it. What if we could travel as women, with women, and help empower more women. Well, we can. Working with foundations that help give women jobs and support them is a big trend on the rise and for good reason. "More women are looking to learn a bit about the traditional, artisanal talents and crafts of women from other cultures when they enjoy vacation, and, thanks to the rise of awareness about economic inequalities around the world, they're looking for ways to support other women's businesses while traveling," a rep for G Adventures told POPSUGAR.
Where to Go: You could be practicing traditional Arabic calligraphy in Morocco, making dumplings with local women who've escaped human trafficking in Nepal, rolling a traditional tortilla with indigenous women in Belize, or weaving alpaca wool in Peru's Sacred Valley with Quechua craftswomen on a trip that's helping to support the local female population. All of this possible through G Adventures, who has partnered with the nonprofit Planeterra Foundation that works to empower women, youth, and indigenous communities through social enterprise.
